Am I fucked? Should I go back to school and get my CS degree?

>Early 30s
>Straight while male
>Linux user not afraid of the big bad cli
>Understands C, Python, PHP, SQL, CSS, and Shell
>Applied for every tech and remote job under the sun
>Pay is way below state minimum wage or you are required to get a college degree
>Too poor to afford to go back to school, but willing to spend money he doesn't even have
>Even if I graduated, I'd be competing with Indians, Chinese, and Russians in the tech sector

Give it to me straight, LULZ, is it over?

If you consider this any kind of credentials or qualifications, you're already dead.

I saw people get junior sysadmin jobs with this.

You saw people whose father or uncle already worked at the company for 20 years get junior sysadmin jobs with this.

Nope. They were immigrants without any connections.

So, diversity hires. Your hireability factor is adjusted as a direct inverse of skin pigmentation melanin + propensity to murder the English language vs. your actual capability to do the job you're hired for.

clean your bedroom and take responsibility for your own failures. If that's to hard then, kill yourself.

I see if from the other end. The diversity hire monkeys are what keep me employed. I get paid 6 figure equivalent USD (outside the US) to spend most of my day doing code reviews because the company is too cheap to hire competent staff to move away from the legacy F90 engineering code.

I'm assuming your portfolio/resume is just shit. Join a company like Revature, they'll babywalk you through the process and hook you up with a software dev job. It's very good for people without CS degrees trying to break in.

      >It’s also important to understand that to work for Revature, you need to be open to relocation throughout the contiguous United States – that’s because enterprise-level software development requires you to relocate to the Technology Development Center of our clients.
      lol

You basically have no qualification other than "interested in technology" which is more than nothing, but still not a lot.

Don't take any advice from me, but without some tangible projects or a piece of paper that certifies that you are not a total grifter, you will have to be insanely lucky to get a job. Of course, it also depends on what you're looking for. IT is not Dev is not Support etc. etc.

Also drop the racism. This kind of mindset will ruin most chances of employment on anything that isn't a "good ol' family" business and is just counterproductive to your growth in general. Don't fall for the fucking memes.

    yes
a degree is mandatory to actually land you a respectable job, or at least your first job, and if the company is worth its salt, they WILL check if you actually have one in case you put that in your cv
once you're inside, your degree turns into useless toilet paper, and now everything is dictated by experience (actually, you will still need the degree for not retard friendly fields like data science), and after two or three years, companies will start looking for you rather than the other way around
it is not impossible to get a job without degree, but you will be competing with a billion of pajeets and other mentally ill neets without a degree too
having one makes you instantly pass through a very tight filter

Put some pronouns on your resume. High risk, high reward. You'll either get HR that bins it immediately because they recognise people like that are self-entitled and a massive legal risk, or their HR will literally bathe your feet during the interview processs because they worship the temple of traniggotry.

See this is your problem. Women get IT jobs without any experience/knowledge all the time.

I did it when I was 40 and it was great, got a nice job now after uni.
So, if you are not retarded you can make it but be aware of the time you need for it, it's different when you study as a youngling without having to deal with your own house etc.

Have you tried applying for dev jobs in India?

No. It'll be an incredible waste of time, then you're older and starting the process again. Chat GPT and other AIs are just the final nail in the coffin of why it's not a good idea. You could go back to school and do something else or train to be something else.

Nigga just lie on your resume. I've been claiming to be mixed race and partially native American for a few years now and I've noticed a huge difference. It got me into a business school I would have no chance of if I was honest about my race. It's literally impossible to get caught because no one will ever question you, I'm pale as fuck and nobody has ever questioned me about it
