The marketing made it out to seem pretty generic and uninteresting. Like it or not, but "angry warrior guy" doesn't really sell anymore. It also just didn't get that much advertising in general. Robert Eggers has some pull with cinephiles, but most normies have never heard of him. Stop turning literally every fucking thing into some new front in the culture war. Go outside.
>Like it or not, but "angry warrior guy" doesn't really sell anymore
I don't care if this was a faithful retelling of the original story. It was bland and one dimensional. The story was not compelling. The movie was competently directed. Bravo eggman
no, it's A21 marketing and still despite the contents, too arthouse for capeshit reprogrammed NPCs. I've seen angry dudebros walk out of it or call it boring
It failed because the current highest point of culture and art for the past 20 years have been fucking superhero movies.
The average normie has dropped 20 IQ points these past 20 years, you see fucking Stranger Things and The Boys ads everywhere when 30 years ago people would laugh you out of the room if you tried to put Buffy the Vampire slayer(which shits all over modern series, mind you) up there with real films.
So when a film that doesn't play out like a capeshit comedy comes out and takes itself seriously and pretty straight, also tries to be somehow historically accurate in an era of Vikings with boiled biker leather and double fade haircuts, normies are not gonna react well.
There's also the fact the MC is shown participating in a typical raid at the beginning, and the movie doesn't shy away from showing what happened after Viking raids(slavery, rapes, mass civilian killings), and nuance is not for your average moviegoer.
>do you personally believe the failure of The Northman was really because of the all-white cast?
garden gnomes aren't white.
Also it failed because the movie is just bad, it is flat and pretentious and puts effort in all of the wrong places. It doesn't matter how good your set design is if the script is fucking awful.
Eggers is a set designer after all. He loves mythical stuff and knows how to build good visuals and direct them. Thats it.
The Northman just showed he needs someone else to write his script for him and cut some slack for Blaschke.
No it's because period piece movies aren't box office blowouts. The Green Knight had multiracial casting and made less money than The Northman. But because it made more than it's budget The Green Knight can't be called a failure the same way The Northman can.
the movie flopped because they cast a literal box office bomb autist
that dude has no fucking charisma. tom cruise who is literally foot shorter than him acts circles around this dude. and the result? top gun maverick is gonna make one billion at the box office and the flopman...the less said about this disaster the better.
mike and jay liked it
mike and jay also think daisy ridley was charismatic in the star wars movies, pick other people to get opinions from
Yes. Why would (((they))) want anything pure White to succeed?
Go alt right, go broke
Most movies that get released in theaters these days are considered failures are they not?
No, it’s because the movie was actually pretty boring.
No, the problem is that it is antichristian
GET

>No, the problem is that it is antichristian
no it’s not
retard
No it failed because it was a romance movie and not a revenge movie. They should have just made Viking Braveheart.

If dubs, dicky allowed for next 24h
Sorry janitors, I didn't mean it. Please don't ban me

>It's capes faults
>Not just because it's a shit movie
Holy cope
You teach a kid to eat Mcdonald's, he's gonna throw up when you give him good food.
Same principle here.
It's over for the little guy. The future of cinema is retarded superhero movies forever. Even Tom Cruise can only hold the line for so long.
Not one of the half-dozen or so people I talked to about this movie had ever even fucking heard of it.

Except it was good and written like a folk tale, which is exactly what it is going for.
unironically cope

It failed because it lacked the nostalgia element.
Yes we guys want Ana de Armas

I don't even think it's his fault. Name one Swede who has any kind of charisma. It's a country full of people with resting bitch faces.
cool better give him more leading roles in franchises so he can sink them in the first film awesome
Why is he so dogshit compared to his father
He inherited none of his fathers acting talent. Just like Denzels son
I don't think it's the primary reason but yes he has no charisma.
It didn’t appeal to women.
vikings are just n-words except white
that and people are just tired of them
no, it was just bad
I believe Northman failed due to being anti-European propaganda.
