extremely enjoyable album, 40 minutes pass like 4 (I skip the instrumental), filtered the band and the fans
way more interesting than what came after it when they became just a regular 80s metal band and removed all complexity (not that there was a ton of it) from their songwriting
Just compare through how many twists a song like Shockwave goes compare to the average post Ozzy song
Songs like the title track, johnny blade, junior's eyes and air dance are among their best
Tech Eck on the other hand is mid, I can't defend it
I'm 35, I've listened to them, and they fucking suck shit. That guy's corny overwrought vocals sound like some c-tier powermetal fucking cheese. Like the guy who replaced the replacement of the lead singer of Manowar or something. The tracks are uninspired.
Master of Reality is the best thing they've ever done, followed by Heaven and Hell, then maybe Vol. 4.
That dogshit you referenced is absolute dumpster-tier
Get fucked you contrarian knuckle-dragger. I bet you can't even play an instrument.
Honestly, I just gave it a listen and it's not as bad as I remember it being. There are at least a few solid riffs, some nice leads, and Bill Ward is on point as always. Geezer is really phoning it in on a lot of the tracks though.
Still think it's a bit directionless and sounds as though they tried to brighten up their sound a bit. Sounds a bit more poppy and straightforward in an AC/DC sense lol

Just check out who Sabbath had opening gigs for them at the time.
Van Halen.
Meaning, literally no one should be surprised.
Great album, by the way.
Better than Technical Ecstasy, which itself isn't half as bad as they say.
Squint your ears & you might even think you're listening to an early Ozzy solo album, in fact.
I remember running downstairs where my mum was sitting in the kitchen, and doing an impersonation of the voice at the end of the song that says NEVERRR SAY DIE! I didn't realise my gf was sitting by the door, crying and telling my mum that her uncle had just died. Awkward!
I THINK IT SUCKS
Some songs are hard to like, like johnny blade or (if we're not counting that rhythm change at the end)Swinging the Chain
but still, Never Say Die and Hard Road are at least top 25 Sabbath
What's not to like about Johnny Blade
It's shit

why bro
there is absolutely no reason to listen to anything this band makes after dio
Never Say Die was before Dio and Headless Cross is Sabbath's best album
nobody cares about your generic tourist opinion
The Tony Martin era is the best Black Sabbath though. Not a single weak album and several masterpieces.
forbidden
Great album. Rusty Angels is up there with Black Sabbath's very best.
You haven't listened to them, or you're a LULZcore zoomer homosexual who thinks Paranoid is the best metal album of all time..

headless cross is indeed the worst album with the black sabbath name on it
but pic related is unironically pretty good
whoops
lmao what? The best Black Sabbath? You're smoking fucking crack
not gonna lie, sabbath is kinda shit
JUNIOR'S EYES NEVER COULD HIDE THE PAIN
best song on the album
Sabbath has never made a bad album. Only a couple mediocre ones at worst.
Toni is arguably the goat between influence, legacy and overall consistency, his solo stuff is great too
What are the three worst Sabbath albums in your opinion?
not that anon but - headless cross, tyr and seventh star
the last three. Forbidden, The Devil You Know, and 13
devil you know and 13 are objectively way better than most of the 80's and 90's stuff.
sneed
he's right
seventh star and forbidden
This cover always interested me because it showed that Paranoids art wasn't just a fluke
what do you mean?
I mean they just had a penchant for choosing ugly album art from time to time.
I find all of their album covers to be as intriguing as they are ugly (besides mor)
the only albums with downright ugly art are paranoid and sabotage
the debut's cover is fantastic and iconic
the rest are whatever
yeah but it always works
there's literally nothing ugly about paranoid's album art. it's just a little goofy.
I also want to know what you mean
I always think this is the album with "Die Young" on it. but it's not, and doesn't have any songs near as good as that on it.
it's almost like... you should never say die, never never say die
I like title track and Johnny Blade.
>She sits in silence, in her midnight world

The walking bass and lead guitar toward the end of Air Dance is actually really badass too
>Geezer is really phoning it in on a lot of the tracks though.
What, lyrically? Because Junior's eyes is one of his best basslines

if i squint my ears i can imagine tony martin singing on dehumanizer
why so many sabbath threads today?

Controversial opinion - this album would have been 5x better with Paul Di'Anno on vocals
The title track is one of my Top 5 all time Sabbath songs, but I've never cared about it as a whole
