Had a pin bent completely sideways, i managed to get it this straight but it still has a curve in it. Am i fucked?
Its pin VDD_18_S5 (Always on 1.8v supply voltage)

Remove the lead from a mechanical pencil, gently put over top and gently bend it back into place.

maybe it will still work without that pin

not even kidding, some pins are just for power, dropping 1 would be fine in that case

which bent pin are you talking about? I see at least 3. Also make sure you bend it perfectly straight or the inductance will corrupt your memory

if it's a power supply pin it should be fine. if it was a data pin i'd toss it

Yeah give it to me instead, there are ways to fix that without soldering too

Are you guys pulling your $500 CPUs out and juggling them? How does this even happen here so often.

Which side is that? It's either ground or vdd_18_s5 and both of them have duplicates. You can try straighten it and if you break it away it still should work just fine. If it's ground, you can safely simply remove it.

Assuming the gold box in the top left corresponds to the arrow on the cpu, its the VD voltage pin. In the original picture the arrow is bottom left

I'd imagine you could RMA it. Maybe they'd ask you to try using it first.

    >a fucking C bend
I have no idea how you can fix it

Try with a tip of a graphite pen

not enough room to tilt the pencil without bending the surrounding pins

Get a better one then I can think of some that would work, like a Pentel drafting one

Get tiny needle nose pliers, or maybe tweezers and try to pinch that pin straight without bending the surrounding pins.

Would likely be the best bet. Just take it real slow and careful like.

I once stepped on a CPU and bent 20% of the pins, I spent like an hour straightening them and it worked fine. The pins finish straightening themselves out a bit more when you put the CPU in its socket

Even if you broke the pins, just place then in the socket and it'll work like an LGA

I know they finish straightening in the socket, just wasnt sure if this was straight enough to even get in

Basic question: does the CPU go in? If yes, I wouldn't worry.
