    >OK so I don't exactly make 150k a year but I do make $30/hr and if I work 80hr weeks that's 120k a year which is basically 150k if you round upwards

Nope, salary position. As long as I do my 3 loads a week my 2k per week is guaranteed.

have fun paying 86k to maintain that shit youre only a wagie with a slighter bigger inc

      I’m a W2 employee

NEPA, not the cheapest part of PA but I’m from Jersey so yeah comparatively cheap as fuck. I’m planning on buying some multi family homes in a slightly cheaper area over the course of the next few years

Kek. No doubt op is some covert recruiter for trucking. Cant import enough jeets? Recruit LULZers!

They tell OP 100k a year but unless he has like 20 years of verifiable experience and he works doe a year straight never taking home time, a more realistic annual is like 65-70k. I had a year experience and was on track to make like 53 after taxes.

Trucking sucks gigantic balls and that job specifically blows, but it is decent money for a non-college career. I'm seeing more and more young 20 something autists in truck stops, the job attracts loners. My advice to anyone who still wants to do it after what I said, make sure you watch what you eat, buy some dumbells and curl them for a bit before bed, do stretches.

80 hrs would put you at $150k. Dipshit can’t even do basic math, calling others stupid.

        >You'll be replaced by autobots in 5 years

They won't maybe in 50 years it's a total gimmick now. Until then there's heaps of OP/black Perma poors who will be squeezed by the reality of logistics beneath the marketing veil.

Meh I thought the same 5 years ago, tech still isn't there yet. This shit moves slow even if they had self-driving working perfectly.
OP probably has at least 10 years before he has to change jobs, and even then laws might mandate a driver be inside autonomous trucks, in which case his job just got more comfy.

Lift with your legs, not your back. Brace your core by holding your breath and flexing your abdomen like you're about to get punched in the gut right as you begin your lift. Will stabilized your spine during lifts.

Deadlift the loads. Never use your back to lift things up. Bend your knees and use your legs to lift it up.

Thanks bros, I think my form is decent but I’ve been thinking about investing in a back brace regardless, seen a decent number of the dollar tree employees wearing them figured it wouldn’t work as long as I keep it on like 4 hours a day or less

      >as long as

How much were you making at 22? Nitpicking aside I gross 2k a week as long as I do my job

enjoy your 50lbs of weight gain

That’s the upside to having to handle the freight, helps fight off the trucker bod

Who do you work for OP?

I'm a mid level manager in retail. Trucking seems like an easy way to build myself up but people's testimonies vary a lot as far as pay and hours.

I’m with usxpress, you’ll need 3-6 months CDL experience before you can drive for them. I’ll lay out how I got my cdl for free, it’s probably objectively the best way to do it imo
      >get a job at Amazon warehouse
      >work for 3 months and apply for career choice program
      >get your CDL for free through career choice
      >apply to TOM team at Amazon
      >polish your parking techniques as a yard jockey and get a bit of experience doing local runs
      >start applying for other trucking jobs once your comfortable enough with your ability

I did above, but just got the promotion straight through Tom team instead of career choice (they pay for your cdl regardless) the only downside is through the transportation team they don’t give you the option to learn manual but that’s not as big a drawback as it used to be. I got the promotion last February and a year after that I landed this gig.

Hey I did the same exact job. Was working out of Warrensburg MO dollar tree DC driving for US Xpress.

That job sucks so much fucking ass and soon they're going to start giving you tighter and tighter schedules that will become impossible to meet. I did it for 3 months and said fuck this and started driving slipseat for schneider this month. Out for 2 weeks and then home time for a week.

If you're dispatched out of Warrensburg you probably took my job OP lol, I quit late last month.

Same company but I’m out of the berwick dc lol, my trainer said they’ve been doing good on sticking to 3 unloads per week. He also mentioned that a fair number of drivers would be ready to give it up if they started doing any bullshit, so I’ve got my fingers crossed it’ll go fine in my area. 2 weeks out 1 week home seems nice, I’d be down to do some shit like that but when I was looking around most offers were more like 3 weeks out 3 days home. Fuck that shit, I got a gf not too long ago I try to see her at least once a week.

I've been to Berwick lol. Had to run empties to that place because they kept running out lol.

The job itself really isn't that bad, it sure as fuck keeps you in shape, I just had a bad experience with my DC. If you just started be damn sure your truck has a working APU heater, US Xpress' trucks don't idle and I damn near froze to death up in Bemidji Minnesota when I had to shut down for the night there.

And as far as the 3 week thing goes, the recruiter originally told me 3 weeks out, which I wasn't thrilled with but I sort of just parked my truck at the DC, loaded all my shit in my car, and drove off when I had enough, so I had to find another job quickly lol. Lucky me though it ended up being 2 weeks out and a week (work week mon-fri) home, so it's an alright gig. I'm currently on a 34 reset rn sitting in my bunk.

Yeah I got the wake up call with the APU my first week lol, I think only variant has proper ones, I only have an inverter. I could def see it being a problem in minnesota but I’m getting along decent enough with 2 blankets and this Sherpa robe thing I usually sleep in. I’m glad your gig is working out for you, I get the weekends home and can usually squeeze in a Tuesday or Thursday to sleep at home too if I time my shit right

I got my CDL through CR England back in 2020 when they were desperate for drivers because muh covid. Be warned though, it is much easier to go through a company and get your CDL that way, but they usually have some sort of contract agreement where you have to drive for them for a certain amount of time or you'll owe them thousands of dollars or some bullshit. Private trucking schools are sometimes a better option if you don't want to be stuck in a hotel halfway across the country for weeks, but the downside is its harder to find a job because you have no experience.

Just like OP I also learned on an automatic, so I can't legally drive a manual, but that really isn't a big deal unless you strictly want to work for a local boomer in your town who only owns a handful of old manual peterbuilts.

I'd recommend it to anyone to try, I get to see the entire country being a truck driver, but if you have any sort of obligations like a wife or kids at home its hard.

It’s also worth mentioning I recommended Amazon because that’s pretty much the only company I’ve heard of that has no contract obligations as far as cdl school.

Yeah man I hope everything works out for you too. I had a bunch of older geezers telling me it was a great gig and they seemed to be getting along great. For me it was just a culmination of event after event that I eventually stopped excusing and decided it wasn't worth the trouble.

I will say though, US Xpress' terminals are definitely a lot better than schneiders, and their trucks are governed at 68 cruise. I'm stuck at 65 with my truck and you definitely feel the difference 3mph makes.

It can be, CR England told us in training that trucking had the highest suicide rate out of any career in the US simply due to the loneliness and isolation of being alone on the road for weeks at a time. Idk how true that is though, and I'm sort of a loner anyway so it works just fine for me.

I hate my life, I should get into this. I literally only enjoy larping as Driver.

Like I said I'd recommend it to anyone just to try, it doesn't take but maybe a month, month and a half to get your CDL, depending on what school/company you go through. I quit back in late 2020 and decided to go back to school, two years later after I finished my associates at a community College and literally no work prospects I decided to give it another shot. The saddest part is that I make more doing this than I would've been starting out with my degree.

Seeing the country is nice, I went from living in a small Midwest town and never being outside my state to seeing 48 states and just about every major city and capital at some point. I just drove past the statue of liberty and saw it for the first them last week.
