The COVID emergency ended. They would have to tie themselves in knots to stop it and it would be struck down in court.

I was actually thinking about this. I have been so frugal it has been a point of my personality now. I hate wasting money or really anything. I was thinking if I ever get to the point where I have millions would I still be frugal? I can’t imagine buying a brand new car, it’s so wasteful. Take the 2 year old car for the savings. Now stretch that with everything. If I have millions will I still opt for take out over door dash? I can’t imagine paying for door dash now no matter the money I have

As one of those car autist...my "newest" car is an 03 civic. I just buy broken old shit and fix it back up.

Fuck new cars. I would rather put 50k into an 01 silverado than buy a brand new 50k truck.

I'm thankful for the useful idiots who buy brand new cars, get in over their head, and get it repossessed. It gives me and other non-retards a chance to get decent low mileage used cars.

Imagine unironically caring if your vehicle is brand new unless you were a multi-millionaire that was buying a car SPECIFICALLY to impress people (which is also gay). New cars are an idiot filter.

But the people who bought the car drove it on a beach and they looked so happy.
Car manufacturers want me to be that happy.
    So I bought the car.

The post covid boom was insane. The majority of non restaurant/service small businesses had their best years during 2020-2021. Then you had a shortage of cars and other products. This combination caused the normie cattle to panic and rush out to buy whatever they wanted with no concern because the money printer was going into overdrive.

Had 2 kids, wife needed a safer car, traded in her 2013 civic for a Hyundai palaside, base model. Car was 33k. The funding payment is still 600 a month, 6% interest.

No, I would not have my kids a fucking sedan when every other car now is a big ass SUV, truck, or electric weighing twice as much

Nice cherry picking, both are top safety pics from the iihs, follow the website and actually look at the reasons for the ratings. I would rather get hit by a f150 in the palaside than the civic. Either way we needed more space than a small trunk for the 2 dogs and all kids shit like stroller etc. That was never gonna fit in a sedan

I have a car payment that is 330 a month, for a base hybrid 2023 Ford Maverick. I make 500 a week doing Manual Labor. My rent is $100 a week with utilities included. I have $5000 in my checking and $20k in my IRA. I'm about to turn 25. I think I'll be fine.

Here's a fun fact: A lot of the "carjackings" in the cities are just car owners committing insurance fraud to get out of these high monthly car payments.

Most of these auto thefts are due to people "conveniently" leaving their doors unlocked with the key fob left inside. If you look at the crime stats in various cities (DC for example) these thefts increased exponentially in 2021 to present. Yes you shit like the KIA boys, but you also have insurance companies completely totalling out these cars for more than their MSRP due to higher dealer markups on there cars and trucks.
